The name of my database is PsycInfo (EBSCOhost) which is covering the discipline of psychology. The date covered in this database is 1872 – present. It contains materials covering the academic, research and practice literature from over 45 countries in more than 30 languages that deal with medicine, psychiatry, education, social work, law, criminology, social science, and organizational behavior. It also provides indexes to journals, dissertations, book chapters, books, technical reports, and other documents. This database is a good one because it is updated weekly and also contains the full text from some available selected journals. It is available off campus, but in this case there are directions that you need to follow. On the other hand, you can find them easily on campus, they have an access restricted by license to authorized AUC users and on-campus visitors.

 This database which name is PsycARTICLES (EBSCOhost) , is also dealing with psychology stuff. It is covering a variety of articles on current issues in psychology from 1988 to the present. This database contains more than 25000 full text articles from 42 journal published by American psychological association and allied organization. I think they are only available in English language. It is not mentioned how often this database is updated. A good advantage of this database is that the full text are available for all the articles which make it a lot easier for the reader to be able to read with details any part of the article. In this case also it is available on campus but the access to it is restricted by license to authorized AUC users and on campus visitors. On the other side, if you are out of the campus you have to see the directions for the off- campus access.

In my own point of view the second database seems easier to you because the complete text are there, but the first one has also an advantage which is the variety of topics in it. That’s why the first database is better for depth research because it includes detailed topics and it is available off campus, rather than the second one which is better in quick research because the full text is there so you won’t have to search a lot to get to the point that you need. So to choose a database that depends on what I need, or the kind of information that I am searching  for.

Full text critical reviews in a wide range of fields.

because it has various information about different topics, like pscychology which i ll need in my search.

Covers over 200 scholarly journals on humanities, social sciences and arts.

because it has information about Education, Film, Gender Studies,Sociology which are databases that will help me in my search.
